What’s the ODF Admissions process?

ODF’s Admissions team accepts applications on a rolling basis. Read below to learn more about the stages in our application process, timeline, and what we look for. Answers to FAQs concerning the ODF program itself can be found at the bottom of this page. Please email founders@beondeck.com with any additional questions!

1️⃣
Step 1. Application
  • Interested candidates should begin by submitting a written application, found here.
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
2️⃣
Step 2. Video Interview (as needed)
  • Some candidates will receive an invitation to an asynchronous video interview.
    • Video interviews should not require formal prep, and you can rerecord your submission as many times as needed.
    • There are three questions in the video interview, which should be completed within 72 hours.
  • Video interview submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates will receive an update on the status of their submission within one week.
3️⃣
Step 3. Interview
  • A small number of candidates will advance to a 10-minute live interview, conducted with a member of the ODF team.
    • Be prepared to discuss your previous work experiences, your future goals, and how ODF can help you get there.
    • There will be time to answer any of your outstanding questions, if needed.
    • Please be concise in your answers, as interviews are brief and we want to learn as much about you as possible!
  • Candidates will receive an update on their status within one week.
    • The ODF Admissions team meets once a week to discuss candidates that have finished their interviews, and to align on an outcome.
4️⃣
Step 4. Second Interview (as needed)
  • A second interview with a member of the ODF team might be needed to reach a final decision on your application.
    • Receiving a second interview is not a negative or positive signal — sometimes we simply run out of time during the first interview.
    • The length, content, and structure of the second interview is similar to the first interview.
  • Candidates will receive an update on their status within one day of a second interview.
5️⃣
Step 5. Receiving an offer
  • If you receive an offer — congratulations!
    • You will have up to 7 days to respond to your offer. Because ODF is over-demanded, we cannot guarantee your spot beyond this deadline.
  • The $1000 price can be paid all at once or on a payment plan of two $500 payments.

FAQ

What is ODF?

ODF is a community for early stage founders. We welcome new members via an intense one-week, in-person sprint designed to help you figure out what company to build, and with whom.

After the week we’ll onboard you to our online network of 2,000+ founders that combines community, software and IRL events to help you build early product momentum, get distribution, and raise capital.

Does On Deck charge equity for participation?

No, we’re a non-dilutive program.

Does it cost money to participate?

If accepted, the program fee is $1k which includes the weeklong intensive in San Francisco and ongoing access to the broader digital network.

How long is the program?

It is mandatory to attend the week-long event in San Francisco to be part of the community.

For the rest of the year, how much time you invest in ODF is largely up to you. You’ll continue to have access to a vibrant online community, regular programming and frequent IRL happenings.

What is the time commitment?

The first week is an intensive, in-person experience. You must commit to being in SF for the majority of the one week intensive.

For the rest of the year, how much time you invest in ODF is largely up to you. You’ll continue to have access to a vibrant online community.

Can people from outside the US join ODF?

We welcome international founders to apply and join our community. ODF alumni have used the one week onboarding and our online support network as a way to build conviction to start a company in the US and make their move. If you are not planning to sell to US customers or move to the US long term, you might not be a fit for ODF.

Do I need to live in SF to join the cohort?

No, but you must commit to being in SF for the majority of the one week intensive. It’s important to have everyone present physically to make the most of the week. If you cannot make the dates work for IRL you can ask to defer your admission to a future cohort.

What's included in ODF?

When you join ODF, you get:

✅  One week of onboarding alongside 100+ high-momentum founders

✅  A year of access to the ODF community, including 2,500+ talented alumni and regular events

✅  Access to our Community Platform

✅ Thousands of hours of recorded workshops and how-tos

✅ >$800k in perks from companies like AWS, Brex, and Carta

Am I a good fit for ODF?

If you are anywhere from 50-100% sure you would like to start a company in the next 6 months ODF could be an excellent fit for you. We’ve been doing this for over 4 years and during that time we’ve seen how being part of a cohort can help someone build the conviction they need to go all-in. Applying is free and takes a few minutes so if you’d like to learn more feel free to submit something.

Will anyone else know that I joined?

Participation is held in strict confidence. Even if you’re happy to share, you are requested to respect the privacy of other members who aren’t ready to make their plans public.
